Stop, wait a minute, your weight flucuated 4 whole pounds over night. The female flux is real. Contrary to what your husband or boyfriend believes, you are not crazy. It’s not just in your mind, the female weight fluctuation can swing anywhere from 5-7 pounds on any given day. One minute you’re feeling all kinds of “relatively slim” and poof…the minute you feel like a tank full of water. What the heck? You don’t even know why or where it came from.
Don’t fret baby girl because it happens to the best of us. For some women it may be a ritualistic day to day, week to week or month to mont battle. Guess what, you can fight it and lower the swing range by several pounds.
It’s called water weight.
Here are a few simple solutions to help you beat the bloat!
First, track your period. Seriously, your time of the month can play a significant role in on your waist line. I use “Period Tracker” which is a free app and it works great. It is super simple to use and best of all…you can monitor your moods... check out →You can’t flow it down.
If you are on the pill or have an IUD, you should still monitor your period and symptoms. This is valuable information because it’s highly possible that you’re more susceptible to severe water weight before or during your cycle.
A secondary plan is to eat water rich foods such as celery, watermelon, cucumber and asparagus. These vegetables are natural diuretics. Eating these foods before or during your monthly cycle will help drain excess water from the body.
Some fiber rich foods can actually cause you to retain water and bloat. So it’s good to stay away from these types of foods if you already retain water during your period.
Fiber rich foods such as broccoli, squash and rice can actually cause water retention and bloating. So my advice is to stay away from these types of foods if you know that your time of the month is approaching.
Weekend warriors may experience the Monday puff. You know, that feeling of overall puffiness from eating yucky processed foods and drinking alcohol all weekend. It happens because most likely you didn’t drink enough water in between the bad salty “cheat” meals. You know the rule beautiful, a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage you drink.
Which brings me to my last point. Ladies, you have got to drink water and by water I mean more than 8 ounces a day. Sweetie, 8 little ounces is not enough. You have got to guzzle like the college days. I know you still have it in you. You can do it, I know you can. Water is the key component to flush food and toxins through your system. A bottle of water is not going to do the trick. Flavor your water with lemon, lime, mint orange or cucumber. These acidic fruits offer a small diuretic which can also be helpful.
How do you battle the bloat? Any tips and tricks to share?
Love, peace and enjoy the release!
