I do my best work in bed! I realize, just now, how incredibly weird that sounds but I’m actually being serious. I LOVE BED.
I love my bed. I love bed time. My bed is my happiest hello and hardest goodbye!
There is nothing greater when preparing for bed, than the knowledge that for the upcoming 8-10 hours (for the most part) I will be completely on my own and undisturbed. Free to roam about my brain and dream away at my leisure!
I relish the feeling of slinking into clean crisp sheets. Who doesn’t right?
When I climb into bed, I’m entering into what I value as REST mode. I climb into bed with one thing on my mind…(don’t tell my husband) which is to rest and be at ease. The fundamental knowledge that I have from the moment I pull up the covers to chill until my alarm sounds the next morning, is priceless! It’s my body’s internal metaphor for lights out and clock out.
I fluff and stack my pillows perfectly. I elevate my feet to get my body horizontal and still. I channel surf for a min, pick a show and nod of happily into never never land.
MY SECRET STASH FOR GOOD SLEEP:
ULTRAHUMAN RING AIR– I’m literally obsessed with this ring primarily for the sleep calculations. I don’t know how it works but it’s never wrong!! Say for instance I had a little too much to drink, the Ultrahuman Ring will literally calculate, while I got 8 hours of sleep, that my sleep was not restful and erratic. It’s WILD! It tracks not only the hours of sleep but the sleep cycles and breathing! I’m fascinated with how the ring counts the sleep cycles, body’s temp and breathing patterns! It’s mind blowing to me!
THE ARTEMIS LED INFRARED THERAPY MASK
I use this every night before bed…and weekend mornings too! What I like most about it is that I can wear it while finishing up nightly chores such as laundry or loading the dishwasher. I can actually walk around the house or lounge on the couch while catching the good red light plus infrared rays!
SLEEP MASK – luxury eye cover full black out and 3d inside
SILK SLEEP MASK 2 PACK I use these for travel (one in my carry on) the other in my suitcase!
MACKS EAR PLUGS slim fit foam earplugs roll them in your hands and push into the canal listen to them fill your ear space for a safe, quiet sleep.
AMAZON ALEXA ECHO POP BROWN SOUND Brown noise is our go to for sleep sounds.
BLACK OUT CURTAINS These curtains have been a game changer for our bedroom. (curtain rod)
CALM PEPTIDES – this drink mix is great to sip about 20-40 min before sleep time. All Natural ingredients for a safe non habit forming sound sleep.
My bed is my sanctuary. It’s the place where I feel safe, rejuvinated and calm. Even if I channel surf for a while I love the tranquil feeling of my bed.
I can rest well knowing that all of my devices are charging while I sleep.
The KISON 12 in one rapid charging station may look a lil messy but its actually a gem. It charges my laptop, ear plugs, ring light, Ultrahuman ring and cell phone all at once.
Parents, it’s perfect for creating a home base while parenting multiple kids and multiple devices. We keep one by the bed and one in the kitchen family trusted corner space!
WHAT NOT TO DO
- caffeine after 5:30 pm. Caffeine can cause fiery reactions in some people. It doesn’t really do much for me that I notice but if it does work for you, cut it out in the late afternoon evening hours.
- don’t exercise right before bed time. Give yourself at least 2-3 hours to let your endorphins cool their jets.
- sleep on an old mattress. Investing in a new mattress is money well spent. Old lumpy dented mattresses can cause back pain, discomfort and lead to bad sleep.
WHAT TO DO:
- take a bath before bed time. A warm hot bath with lavender is ultra calming and can get you in a more subdued mood.
- Moderate wine intake – More than one glass can actually have the opposite effect so be careful and moderate your alcohol intake.
- turn off the TV. When you finally get into bed try turning everything off, music and tv. If you like sound, try brown or green noise. Pick rain or ocean and see if this will help transcend your mind to the rhythmic sound.
- PRAY. I visualize sitting at his feet or Him cradling me like a baby and I pray silently. I often fall asleep praying and what better place to fall asleep in the hands of my saviour.
- If all else fails, talk to your doctor and discuss a treatment such as Tylenol PM or another drug to help you fall and stay asleep.
