Bringing Sweaty Back

Sun kisses from CABO

It had been over 15 years since Mr. Chicken Fry and I had visited Cabo San Lucas.

And although CABO was not on our regularly scheduled Summer travel agenda it was a perfect place to land for the long holiday weekend. We packed our bags for some sun and family-friendly fun.

Viva Los Cabos! Landing in Cabo there is an immediate feeling of pristine. Unlike Cancun, there is a feeling of cleanliness. (Not poverished dirty streets). The drive to the resorts is a beautiful dessert scape lined with cactus, palm trees and desert flowers!

We stayed at the JW Marriott beach resort Los Cabos. It is about 45 minutes from downtown Cabo. Meaning this resort is not close to the “nightlife” shopping zone. So if you are looking to kick back and truly relax this is a nice place to rest. While I wasn’t super impressed with the physical layout or aesthetics of the hotel its ocean scenic views made it all worthwhile. The JW Marriott beach resort Los Cabos neighbors Secrets, Los Cabos Puerto resort and the Los Cabos Golf Club. It’s also very. close to the airport which makes it nice.

I highly recommend using MARIO for Airport and downtown transportation. Mario speaks amazing English and had multi vehicles that were clean and air-conditioned. +52 624 160 2504. Mario showed us the nearest grocery store and allowed us a quick stop. This store LA COMER is like a one-stop-shop for food, clothes, sunscreen, and alcohol. (the teenagers bar bill can get sky high so load up on beer and wine and tequila for the teenagers (who are legal to drink in Mexico).

I hosted two killer workouts from Cabo.

FLORA FARMS is one of the hot spots to visit while in Cabo. From the JW Marriott, it’s less than a five-minute drive. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to dine at FLORA FARMS during our stay because it was completely booked and min. capacity due to covid restrictions. This FARM to table restaurant I’ve been told is an experience! Not only does the restaurant have incredible fresh food but it offers plenty more. If you’re into excursions, take a tour of Flora Farms and an authentic cooking class. (see below the pricing and inclusions).

When planning your trip, call ahead and make reservations.

EDITH’S

Edith’s is a vivid combination of the Cuisine of Baja California with a Guerreran flair, featuring a regional fusion of steaks and seafood with local ingredients. Edith’s is downtown and was 45 minutes from our resort. A loving, privileged view of Medano Beach and the world-famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas, candle lights and palapas set the atmosphere for an unforgettable culinary experience.

CABO WABO CANTINA

While a super touristy dive joint….I just had too! As a Sammy Hagar and Van Halen groupie, it had to be done! Aside from fact that Sammy was not present it felt right to be there and salute Eddie VanHalen with a Waborita! The atmosphere is neon to the max and surprisingly the food was delicious! This tribute space to Sammy Hagar is a hoot. Bar and restaurant by day and. nightclub in the evening. There is music blaring and in a noncovid world, live bands perform. nightly. ARIBA!

THE OFFICE ON THE BEACH

The OFFICE is a giant beach bar/restaurant nestled on the beach. Established in the early 70’s you will feel right at home at the OFFICE! The OFFICE is open for breakfast lunch and dinner. Giant white iron chairs and tables line the beach for toes in the sand chill atmosphere. There is always music playing and drinks flowing no matter what time of day you visit. This now iconic beach bar requires reservations!

One day we chartered a private fishing boat. FIN ADDICT – was the boat name but we didn’t catch any fish. WE caught a tan, a buzz and some amazing pictures of the ARCH.

I did catch a small set of crunches and push ups!!

Mr. Chicken Fry had a round of scenic golf at Los Cabos Puerto Golf Club. It was about 2.5 miles from the JW Marriott.

I look forward to visiting again and staying closer to town. The streets were bustling with music, shopping and restaurants. SPLASH Chop House is supposed to be outstanding.

While the beaches aren’t open for swimming because of the undertow and high surf it was a wonderful trip. The drinks are cold and the sun was hot.

I love it a lot
