Bringing Sweaty Back

Cabo 2.0

Follow me for another stamp in you passport!

Last month Mr. Chicken Fry and I took a 5 day vaca, a Cabo reboot, for some rest and relaxation.
The goal was to get a more in depth taste and feel of “CABO”. The discovery was a success and there is much to see and plenty of activity for everyone.

We flew direct on American Airlines from DFW to Cabo San Lucas. A special getaway trip to commemorate our friend’s 60th birthday!

I can’t brag enough on my luggage! The most durable and light weight suitcase I have ever owned.
Plenty of room for all of the things! I put shoes and clothes on one side and toilteries on the other – zip zip zip and ready to fly!

It’s 360 wheels and pull handle make managing even an overpacked bag a breeze! The Kenneth Cole Reaction luggage. This is the 28 inch suitcase as a checked bag. It comes in many other colors and sizes. I especially dig the metallic champagne color!

Fiesta forever with shopping, dining, fishing, sun bathing and sight seeing!
Last time we stayed around the San Jose Cabo area…this time we stayed in Cabo San Lucas. More about that trip HERE! *I 100% prefer the Cabo San Lucas area over San Jose. To me, the energy of the area and beach access wins hands down!

Our home for the week was the five star Hacienda Beach Resort near the marina about 45 minutes from the airport. It’s locally centered amongst the downtown Cabo ACTION! The resort is within walking distance to shops, marina, restaurants and or beach bars! The Hacienda is partly hotel and residential. It’s full of color and laid with Spanish tile. The two negative edge pools and hot tubs are overlooking the famous “Lovers Beach”.

The backdrop is superb. Nestled near the rocks of the famous
Arc coupled with lavish flowers and desert scape cactus. The coffee bar next the state of the art FITness center and spa was super convenient. I loved the indoor and outdoor workout facility. Check out the jungle gym and putting green.

The resort had all of the things, restaurant, bar, spa and activities such as pickle ball paddleboarding, swimming, kayaks, floats and so much more!

If you’re a beach lover, boat lover, sun seeker, thrill seeker or foodie Cabo just might be your happy place. The only negative is prepare for the peddlers. Y’all these people are going to be in your face pouring on your every desire and feeling. If you want silver jewelry, blankets, beach hats, piñatas, boat rides, jet skis, toys, cover ups, tours, or a serenade with Mexican mariachis, you can have it.

In a way it’s fun to shop while laying on the beach but after 15 no gracias it gets a little annoying and a bit over whelming.

BUT…the view! We spent two days at the Billygans beach bar. This comfy place was rockin! It had all that we wanted which was fine service, good food and day beds! The best people watching ever as it’s centrally located amongst the beach bars and right next to the famous THE OFFICE!

Billygans Beach club has day beds for 4 rent. Comfy to settle in for the day or just lunch. Sun or no sun. The music play list never stopped jamming 70, 80,90, and current mixes of playful sounds. Plenty of umbrellas and shade or sun. The service was prompt and the drinks were cold. It’s also nice to have a private bathroom!!

The streets of downtown are lined with shops and bars. Which came in handy for a girl like me….it was the cold frio temps in May! As a Texas girl, I required a jacket and or long sleeve coverup. Make sure to pack a pair or jeans or pants and most assuredly a sweater and/or a jacket! The winds can chill to a crisp 61 and with a sun burn it’s no bueno !

Alexander’s on the marina was our first and third stop for dinner!! SURF & TURF! Excellent food! Lots of foot traffic and much to see! The boats and cruisers pulling in and out plus fun music. Never a dull moment!

Omega on the beach just past the office had the biggest sushi rolls I have ever laid eyes on! The tuna sushi was ginormous and delicious. We ate on the beach most days and the food was ultra fresh!

Edith’s is a traditional Mexican restaurant. It’s lively and colorful. There is hand blown glass hearts dangling from every tree and pink table cloths. Arful and beautiful. The seafood, Mexican food was as spicy and fresh as the atmosphere. Plenty of mariachis and giant margaritas.

Roasted is an indoor outpost open top escape. The twinkle lights and lightly fallen leaves have an uber natural vibe. The food was served family style and oh so yummy!! The drinks were cold and the tequila was strong! We left with a happy buzzy and fully tummys!

Pisces Fishing Charters This sport fishing charter came highly recommended from a friend. This turnkey operation from start to finish did not disappoint. Check in was easy and secure. Pisces sport fishing charters has a wide range of boats and “packages” to choose from. Our Captain and two crew members were clean and ever so helpful. They served hot breakfast burritos for breakfast and sandwich for lunch. The crew kept the fishing lines baited and it worked!. We caught three marlin catch and release. What a day! We had a total of five on the line for the day but only reeled in three to the boat.
We saw dophins for days!

The Real McCoy is a high end jewelry store on the edge of the marina with one-of-a-kind unique pieces. Enjoy a shot of The oldest vanilla flavored tequila if you purchase a piece!!

Did someone say Tequila SHOTS? The stretch of beach facing the Arc is full of life! Music at all hours (day or night) is blaring, thumping and pumping! There is a great vibe and high energy. The water is clear as a bell and chilly to the touch. Honestly hard to muster the nerve to take a quick dip. The sand is hot and the sun is intense!

COOLA 30 SPF and moisture spray keeps my face hydrated and protected. I spray it over my makeup and it acts as a setting spray!

I also love the COOLA self tanning gel for the face! It’s moisturizing and doesn’t have a heavy “self tanning stinch”. It goes on clear and has a golden risidual effect.

We took a day trip to Palmilla…one of Cabo’s premiere golf clubs and resort. It just so happens that we have a friend who has a stunning home inside the Palmilla area! The view is spectacular. The streets are lined with pink flowers and pristine gardening.
The beach houses and resort are red roofs and white stucco. This is a private residence but isn’t it amazing!!!!!

Cabo can be a couples get away or a family vacation. The main beach attractions such as jet ski, parasail, snorkel tours, ATV excursions and ferry rides to the ARC are easy to negotiate. AND BY ALL MEANS NEGOTIATE! Don’t fall for the first offer…MAKE A DEAL!

This trip we didn’t golf or spa. But we did explore the downtown area which is always buzzing with day and night life. Burgers or breakfast are easy to come by in the marina area! Cabo Wabo is a Sammy Hagar’s place which typically has live music and dancing!

Don’t forget to make a stop at one of the many pharmacy’s while in town. Load up on Amoxicillian, Z-Pack, Augmentin, Lattise, or any other pharmaceutical needs.

Adio’s Cabo!
See you soon!

Love

Angi
