Bringing Sweaty Back

RUT-ROW

Eleven months ago I forgot to publish this blog post. RUT-ROW!

Perhaps, I was experiencing a “Maybe it’s Menopause” moment! Nonetheless…here is a little re-cap.

Eight weeks ago we welcomed a new puppy to our family. An 8 week old vizsla we named Tene’t (pronounced like Renee). I was not happy about the edition. For all of the reasons an empty nester, clean freak, married to a man that thrives on freedom and spontaneity might not be excited about a 15 year commitment. However, I was out numbered and the doggie is ours. As expected, our little Tene’t is a sh#$ ton of work. We are being challenged to the max because according to our dog trainer Donna Reichl, owner of The BEST DOG FOR LIFE, discipline and exercise is the fundamental key.

RUT ROW…

Now my/ our busy schedules have to account for an energetic puppy who needs above love, discipline and exercise. I have had to carve out special time in the morning, afternoon and evening for play time, exercise and training. The upside of the puppy is I’m up earlier and getting things done! I’m outdoors a whole lot more which I love. I hadn’t even realized that I was in my own funky RUT. The puppy, TENE’T has opened my heart to more love and energy.

We went in full throttle and approached the new dog like a JOB! THE BEST DOG FOR LIFE is a master class and guide to keep us out of a rut and falling into bad habits.

IS THIS RINGING ANY BELLS? HELLO dog training is a whole lot like FITness and health. It’s WORK, it’s dedication and repetition but it works if you work it!

We have to set ourselves up for success.

As a personal trainer, I often encounter clients who feel stuck. There is a lack of motivation whether it’s with their fitness routine or nutrition habits.

As a female and heart pounding human being I experience a wide range of RUTS including and not limited to makeup, fashion, food, and prayer time.

Hang in there because IT HAPPENS to EVERYONE!

It’s essential to recognize that being in a rut is totally different from experiencing depression. Ruts are temporary and can be overcome with the right strategies and mindset.

Here are five key points to help you climb out of a rut:

1. Recognize It’s Just a Rut, Not Depression: The first step is acknowledging that what you’re experiencing is a temporary setback, not a permanent state of mind. Ruts are common and generally insignificant. By understanding that this feeling, this blah phase will pass, you can approach it with a more positive outlook.

2. Identify the Root Cause: Take some time to reflect on what might be causing you to feel stuck. Is it STRESS, lack of motivation, too much on the calendar, burnout, or unrealistic goals? FOR ME..it’s often a seasonal thing. I feel a loss of inspiration in February and March. The weather can play Jedi mind tricks on me. And as bad as this is going to sound…social media can be a kill joy! All of the makeup tutorials, buy this, try this, influencer stuff can effect our confidence. BUT what I’m learning is this…I DON’T have to buy into and follow every trend. It’s true…trends are cool and fun but your jeans, your style, your last seasons sandals are A-OK!

3. Set Small, Achievable Goals: Break down your larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks. This approach makes progress more tangible and keeps you motivated along the way. Celebrate each small victory, as it will fuel momentum. I started power walking again and once I hit 50 miles I will get some new running shoes!

4. Mix Up Your Routine: Monotony is a common culprit. Shake things up by trying new workouts, recipes, or activities. Variety not only prevents boredom but also challenges your body and mind in different ways, leading to growth and progress. What works for me is changing my cardio routine. Driving to a park or running trail for fresh people watching. Changing up your music or podcast can add a boost. Of course you can always BUY a puppy! (lol)

5. Seek Support and Accountability: Don’t hesitate to lean on friends, family, or a professional for support. Surrounding yourself with positive influences and accountability partners can provide encouragement, feedback, and perspective. Share your goals and progress with others to stay accountable and motivated. Hire a personal trainer, fitness instructor or accountability coach. My program is fresh and fun. We hired a dog trainer for moral support and coaching. It’s a game changer and we are only 6 weeks into the program.

Slap on your SUNSCREEN and rock it! DR. Loretta SPF daily defense is my new obsession. It’s light, smoothe and wears great with or without makeup! In the hot summer months I also use SUNBUM SPF facial mist!

Remember, everyone experiences ruts at some point. What’s important is how you respond and take proactive steps to climb out of them. Admitting you are in the RUT is key. Everything you read and see effects your words and habits. Try reading a new devotional or light hearted comedy. As much as I love a true murder mystery or who done it after a while it can wear me down. I need to laugh and think positive vibes.

It might take two or three days but these simple small choices can put the pep back in your step.

You are not stuck it’s just a rut
