Do you ever feel like you’re suffocating from all of the STUFF?
Sometimes I look around my house and feel like a hostage. I’m surrounded by too much clutter, not to be confused for my admitted furniture fetish. I’m addicted to furniture…so sue me!
My Mr. Chicken Fry has a big time FOOT fetish. He pays attention to FEET and thankfully adores mine! It’s a serious thing this fetish of his. I literally have girlfriends that will unequivocally NOT come around my hubby if they aren’t properly polished and pedicured to perfection. It’s true! They fear the wrath of the Chicken Fry mock! He will openly rake you over the coals for poor foot care.

I guess you could say I have a FITness FETISH! I take issue/ special interest in my health and the health of others. It truly pains me to see people I love or people I don’t even know struggling with the basics like breathing and walking. The difference is, I would never mock them, I want to help and educate these folks to FIND their FITness.
Don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about because you too have witnessed what I’m referring to. You’ve seen it in the grocery store or at a big stadium type event. These unfortunate obese human beings who are using electric carts to roam about the store. Heaven forbid they burn a calorie and walk the aisles. The complication is that they are too weak and labored with joint pain and require scooter assistance. BUT y’all…it doesn’t have to be this way.
The folks I’m speaking about might not care to work it hard and reach peak cover FITness model condition. They might not desire to look or train like a pro athlete who’s in the super bowl championship. Health and FITness is NOT always about being muscular or super FIT it’s about LIFE!!! It’s mostly about getting to a place of decent health because their only alternative is death. I mean really…I have loved ones who are a step away from a heart attack over here. Geeze oh pete people I’m like begging them to listen or let me help. I’m not asking them to skip a meal or start a strict cleanse. I’m just hoping they could take some baby steps and slowly intregreate some body weight exercises and skip a few enchilada dinners! FOR THEIR OWN GOOD!
The general population of overweight people have a fetish, an extreme FOOD fetish! They only believe that food can taste good when it contains a ton of butter, salt, cheese, flour and sugar or it isn’t worth eating. The same can be said for folks that prefer fried greasy everything and there is no other way. Oh boy…but on the other hand there is a big group of people who insist that they do indeed eat healthy. These are the salad bar junkies who load up a salad plate like it’s there last meal. A salad the wrong way can have about a ca-trillion calories and fat. Eiiee ya yiee!
I don’t want any of these folks to give up there FOOD FETISH. I just want to teach them a better way to communicate with food. In turn they will feel better and so will their heart and joints.
How do we meet these people in the middle?
There has to be motivation and desire. A conversation has to take place. A transparent talk where the questions are real and deep.
For instance, are you tired of being over weight and exhausted?
Are you ready to live life to the fullest and get the weight off for good and for REAL?
Are you willing to give up crap junk food for healthy options?
Do you realize that if you keep up this pace, your life expectancy dwindling every day? Do you know why you are suffering with diabetes and early onset of heart issues?
Will you, for the love of Jesus, commit and make some changes?
If the answer is yes then by all means get them the help they need. If the response is negative then just know they are NOT ready.
If you get a YES!!
Explain to your friend that a hungry body is a healthy body. This is assurance that they are normal. We all like to feel included and normal and it’s true. A healthy body should be hungry. About every 2.5 to 3 hours you will be feeding your body. FOOD FETISH folks will be relieved to hear this. Up until this point you have captured their attention and the start to balk when you mention exercise.
Depending on their status, sometimes walking around the block is all they will be able to muster at FIRST! That’s ok – everyone starts somewhere and FITness meet you wherever you are! Small hand weights such as 2,’s 3 and 5 pound weights are perfect to begin. Body weight exercises such as assisted push up from the knees, and crunches.
The key is to get this person active and if that means doing 2 pound weights in a wheel chair it’s better than nothing.
